Central Texas (a part of which is the Texas Hill Country), is a region (and a physiographic section within the Great Plains province, as it pertains to geography) in the U.S. state of Texas. It is roughly bordered by San Marcos over to Fredericksburg up to Waco, and back down to Brenham, and includes the Austin–Round Rock, Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood, Bryan-College Station, and Waco metropolitan areas. The Austin–Round Rock and Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood areas are among the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the state. The United States Army's Fort Hood is the largest military installation in the nation. Some of the favorite local cuisines are barbecue and a variation on traditional Mexican food affectionately referred to as Tex-Mex. I was wondering because My family loves fresh fruits and veggies and stuff. We have a lime tree, tomato plant, mint shrubs, and chili peppers! We would like to grow avocados, but don't know if our climate is right. Can you grow them in Central/ south texas? I know how to plant them and get the roots started and all from sticking tooth picks in the sides, and let it rest on the edge of a cup filled with water. Asked by Simple Little Ways - Thu Nov 13 19:12:38 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Most of the avocados you get from the stores will not survive the winters in the San Antonio, TX area. If you have access to a greenhouse you can keep them alive long enough to fruit. My nursery is in the process of getting a variety that is freeze tolerant in this area. You need to plant them in groupings of 3 for best results, because you need a male and female tree. Answered by agb - Thu Nov 13 19:23:32 2008 Where can i find Oolong Tea in the central Texas area?
